The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. (Jeremiah 31:3)
When I was a teenager, life was not smooth-sailing for me. After my parents divorced and my father passed away, I was utterly broken. It wasn’t just my heart that was broken, but my sense of identity and belonging were nothing but a distant memory. I remember living in a constant state of shame and realizing that my old life as I knew it had been ravaged by the effects of my parent’s divorce.
At the age of 18, the light of the love of God shone through the darkness and touched the very core of my soul. I remember giving my life to Jesus and surrendering to His will for my life. I knew that even though I could never live the life that I lived before my world was shattered, God had a plan and a purpose for my life. He pursued me and found me at my lowest, assuring me that He was the love that I was seeking. That love was not fleeting, conditional, or temporary. It was a love that could not be shaken, a love that would never leave me nor forsake me.
This year, it has been 20 years since the Lord captured my heart and His love has been a sure anchor for my soul. It hasn’t always been smooth-sailing, but God has been an ever-present help for me in times of need. Sometimes when we go through the winds and the waves of life, it’s easy to forget, that His love is never failing and that He remains faithful and true. Today, take a moment to remind yourself that you are loved. God loves you with an everlasting love. His loving-kindness will never depart from you. And don’t let the enemy convince you otherwise!
